On October 15, then-Presidential candidate Joe Biden did what President Trump never has: acknowledged—and condemned—the epidemic of the murder of trans women (most of them Black or Latinx) in the United States. At least 34 transgender or gender non-conforming people have been killed this year alone. Despite now President Elect Biden's historic statement, Deana Ayers, a 21-year-old voter in Minnesota, said the acknowledgement wasn’t nearly enough.
